Wilton Rebels 2011 Adirondack Sports Dome Winter League Game Summaries (12U and 10U)

12YO Wilton Rebels Dome Recap

The 12 year old Wilton Rebels finished in second place with a 4-3-1 record. Jeff Vukelic led the team in batting average at .471, runs batted in with 7, triples with 2, runs scored with 5, and hits with 8. Matt Schyljuk led the team with 2 doubles, 6 walks, and a .611 on base percentage. He also finished second in runs batted in with 6. Zak King finished second on the team with a .600 on base percentage, 5 walks, and only struck out once in 15 plate appearances. Other noteables: Max Lee was second with 6 hits and Killian Munro was second in batting average at .455. On the pitching side, Ryan Sesselman and Matt Schyljuk each struck out 10 batters while Zach Baker and Jacob Gebo each struck out 8. All 4 did so in around 6 inning pitched each.

April 14, 2011 - Adirondack Lightning 6, 9YO Wilton Rebels 4

Wilton finished up their season with a tough loss to Adirondack. Nick Gebo finished the dome season as Wilton’s hottest hitter going 1 for 3. Mason Cox and Jack Trimmings added a single each and Andrew Murauskas ripped a RBI single too. Sam Cirenza had a strong inning on the mound and went 2 for 2 with a double. Wilton did a good job playing up against 10 year old competition and is hoping for better things in the travel season.

April 4, 2011 - 9YO Wilton Rebels 8, Queensbury Blue Jays 6

The Wilton Rebels recorded another big win in dome play. The rapidly improving Rebels were led on the hill by Danny Moshier and Quinn Jones. Jack Trimmings laced a triple and Jackson Kosek had 2 big singles. Nick Gebo continued his hot hitting with yet another single reaching safely in almost every game this winter season.

April 4, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels 6, Adironack Thunder 4

Down 4-0 after 2 innings the Rebels capped an impressive comeback with a 4 run 4th inning. The Rebels had contributions across the lineup with 6 different players recording RBI’s. Offensive standouts included Ryan Sesselman with a walk and RBI single, Zak King and Max Lee with RBI singles, and Matt Schyljuk with a walk and a hit. Jake Hedges, Jack Flanagan, and Scott Dailey each pitched scoreless innings. On defense the Rebels really shined with a lot of good plays in the field. Included among them were both Killian Munro and Zach Baker forcing guys out at home with heads up plays, Jacob Gebo with a great diving stop and throw out at shortstop, Jack Flanagan nipping a runner at first with a strong throw from shortstop, Jake Hedges and Zak King with assists at second base, Max Lee throwing out yet another would be stealer at second base, and Ryan Sesselman with an awesome throw from third to first. The best play was saved for the end of the game when Ryan Sesselman made a catch deep in right center field then thrw a strike to Jack Flanagan at second base to complete a game ending double play.

April 3, 2011 - Queensbury Travel 14 12YO Wilton Rebels 0

Rough game for Wilton as the unstoppable juggernaut that is Queensbury Travel shut them down. For the second time in the weekend Max Lee broke up a no hitter in the 4th inning with a clean single followed by Killian Munro’s clean single. On the pitching side Ryan Sesselman gutted out 2 innings of work while striking out 2. In the field, Zach Baker made a two great plays at first base and Matt Schyljuk recorded 2 assists and a putout while pitching.

April 3, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels 4, Adironack Thunder 3

The 12YO Rebels were led by Scott Dailey and Jack Flanangan who each pitched an inning while striking out 2. The offense was paced by hot hitting Jeff Vukelic who went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and by Scott Dailey’s fearless base running. The defense was led by catcher Jacob Gebo who threw a runner out trying to steal third, Matt Schyljuk with an assist at SS, Max Lee who forced a runner out at the plate, and Jake Flanagan who made a heads up play at 2B to force a runner. Other key contributions were from Zak King and Max Lee who each pitched well, Zach Baker with an RBI single, and Jacob Gebo who reached base twice with a single and a walk.

April 3, 2011 - Adirondack Lightning 6, 9YO Wilton Rebels 3

The Wilton Rebels took a tough loss when it all blew up in one bad inning in the field. Christain Arpey, Nick Gebo and Danny Moshier led the way at the plate with a single each and Quin Jones rapped a double.

April 1, 2011 - North Colonie 2, 9YO Wilton Rebels 0

A very good 9 year old Wilton Rebel squad gave the unbeaten North Colonie 10's their best game of the season. Mason Cox, Christian Arpey, Quinn Jones, Danny Moshier, and Caroline Laniewski led the way on the hill giving up just 2 hits and reaching double digits in strike outs. Nicholas Gebo led the way at the plate for Wilton going 2 for 2 and Sam Cirenza chipped in a single. The team is expecting better things when they face 9YO competition in Travel and Allstar season.

April 1, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels defeated by Queensbury Travel in the Dome

Tough night for Wilton as they lost to an impressive Queensbury team. The Rebels were held to 2 hits including an RBI single by Max Lee and a single by Killian Munro who raised his Dome average to a team leading .571. On the pitching side Ryan Sesselman was the only Rebel pitcher to slow the Queensbury offense by recording a 1-2-3 inning and assisting on all 3 outs himself. Other highlights for Wilton: Jack Flanagan making a great defensive play at 2B, Jeff Vukelic recording 3 assists, Max Lee throwing a runner out trying to steal, Matt Schyljuk walking twice and scoring a run and striking 2 out while pitching, and Jacob Gebo snagging a liner at SS to go along with an assist and 2 strikeouts while pitching.

Feb 4, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels Defeat Adirondack Thunder 10-4 in the Dome

The Rebels put on their hitting shoes and banged out 8 hits around 8 walks. Jeff Vukelic led the offense with a 3 for 3 night including his second triple of the season. Vukelic also scored 3 runs and drove in 2 and was robbed of another extra base hit by the roof of the Dome. Matt Schyljuk added a double and 4 RBI’s while making a nice fielding play at third base. Jacob Gebo threw a runner out at home trying to score and came through with 2 hits that drove in 3 runs. On the pitching front Ryan Sesselman pitched 2 scoreless innings while striking out 4 batters. Other key contributors included Max Lee who made a clutch sliding stop on a hot smash at first base that saved a run and also had a run scoring single, and Killian Munro who got on base twice with a hit and a walk and scored both times.

Feb 4, 2011 - 9YO Rebels Lose to North Colonie, 6-1

The Wilton Rebels ran into a very tough North Colonie team and after a tough first inning settled down and played a very good game. Jack Trimmings, Sam Cirenza, Quinn Jones and Christian Arpey pitched a great game from the hill. Timmings singled and scored a run and Arpey also laced a single. Andrew Murauskas did a nice job in the field and behind the plate

Jan 28, 2011 - 9YO Rebels Earn Victory 5-4

A fast improving 9 and under Wilton Rebel team posted their first win in 10 and under play against the Queensbury Bluejays 5-4. Strong pitching from Sam Cirenza, Quinn Jones, and Jack Trimmings helped to seal the win for Wilton. Cirenza, Danny Moshier and Nick Gebo each had a single. Jackson Kosek also contributed a key bases loaded infield single. Great defense by the whole team behind the pitching was critical in the win.

Jan 28, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels Fall to Queensbury Travel 6-2

The 12YO Rebels played well but could not overcome the great hitting and pitching of Queensbury Travel. The Rebels did shine in the field with great defensive plays by Ryan Sesselman in left field and Jake Hedges at second base. Max Lee pulled down a high throw at first base and was a vacuum as catcher stopping numerous balls in the “dirt”. Scott Dailey and Jack Flanagan were an effective SS/2B combo combining for 2 outs together. On the hitting side Matt Schyljuk had 2 hits and Jeff Vukelic legged out an RBI triple and also walked. Jacob Gebo kept his Dome ERA at 0.00 with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless pitching while striking out 3.

Jan 21, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels Dome team battle to a 4-4 tie against the Saratoga Americans

Matt Schyljuk pitched 2 scoreless innings while striking out 4. He also made 2 nice plays at first base and drove in a run. Max Lee threw a runner out at 2nd trying to steal and also made a diving play for an out at first base. Zach Baker went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Zak King maintained a perfect 1.000 on base percentage after two games with a hit and a walk. King also made a great catch in centerfield staring into the lights. Jacob Gebo boomed a hit to the right centerfield wall and also pitched a scoreless inning. Jeffrey Vukelic contributed a single and an assist in the infield.

Jan 14, 2011 - 12YO Wilton Rebels Win Dome Ball Debut

The 12YO Wilton Rebels Dome Team won their first game 6-4 against the Queensbury Sharks under the roof of the Adirondack Sports Dome. Rebel's pitchers struck out 12 batters led by Zach Baker's 5 K's. Jacob Gebo contributed a 7 pitch 1-2-3 inning with nice plays behind him from Baker and Jeff Vukelic. Matt Schyljuk and Ryan Sesselman each struck out 3 while pitching. Baker also added 2 hits including a double and Schyljuk crushed a ground rule double to center field. The Rebels finally fought through a tough Sharks defense with 4 runs in the 5th led by Zak King and Killian Munro who each had 2 hits in the game. King also contributed a nice defensive play at 2B.
